He became the first cricketer in 132 years to be selected for a national team in any format without making his first-class debut in 2009. Warner made his first-class debut for New South Wales in the final Sheffield Shield match of the 2008-09 season. Warner was a member of the Sydney Sixers during the 2012-2013 Big Bash League season.
