Pakistan captain Babar Azam has surpassed India captain Virat Kohli to become the No. 1 ranked ODI batsman, ending Kohli’s long reign at the top of the rankings. Babar’s classic 82-ball-94 against South Africa in the third One-Day International helped him gain 13 rating points and set a career-high of 865 points.

Babar Azam was born to a Punjabi Muslim family on October 15, 1994, in Lahore, Punjab. He is Kamran and Umar Akmal’s first cousin brother.

Babar Azam had been a disciplined cricketer since he was a teenager, and he had always known he wanted to be a cricketer.

He advanced rapidly through the age groups, moving from under-12 to under-14 to under-16.

Babar Azam, who was just 15 years old at the time, competed in the 2010 Under-19 World Cup. Babar opened the batting and led the team to the final, where they were defeated by Australia by 25 runs to finish second.
