IPL 2022 Retention List: All 8 Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have announced the list of players they have retained and released of IPL auctions. There were a few surprises as well as some obvious choices. The list of retained and released players for the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 was revealed.
IPL 2022 is set to be a mega-event, with a total of 10 teams competing in the next edition of the world’s biggest cash-rich League (IPL 2022). 2 new teams, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, have been added to the IPL lineup, and the current 8 teams released their retention list. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had instructed the current eight franchises to submit their list of retained players by the 30th of November. According to the rules, each of the eight teams will be allowed to keep a maximum of four players. The eight teams will be allowed to keep a maximum of three Indians and two foreigners out of the four players. RTM cards will not be permitted for the current 8 franchises.
The Sanjeev Goenka group will own the Lucknow-based IPL franchise, while CVC Capital will own the Ahmedabad-based IPL franchise. However, even before the season begins, the Ahmedabad franchise appears to be in serious trouble because their owners, CVC Capital, are being accused of being involved in sports betting. The IPL Governing Council will meet on December 3rd to make a final decision on franchise ownership as well as the next media rights cycle.
IPL 2022 Retention Players List: Retention Pool Of INR 90 Crores To Spend On Player Retention And Acquisition.
In total the10 teams that will compete in the IPL 2022 auction have been given a pool of INR 90 crores to spend on player retention and acquisition. Teams retaining 4 players in the IPL Retention 2022 will have Rs. 42 crores deducted from their purse value, and each team must name their players in the order of the salary purse.

In terms of retentions, the all-time best T20 cricket players like Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and MS Dhoni, among others were all retained by their respective franchises. Mohammed Siraj joined Virat Kohli and Maxwell on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) retention list. On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have done a good job to persuade MS Dhoni to stay with them and eventually retained him.
Moeen Ali, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ravindra Jadeja are the other three players who will remain with the four-time IPL champions. Addressing Champions, the Mumbai Indians (MI) have used their entire retention quota to keep Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollard, and Suryakumar Yadav. Surprisingly, they have decided to release Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan, who could be selected by Lucknow or Ahmedabad.
